Stijn Bruers has a PhD in physics at the University of Leuven and currently works at the Belgian environmental organization Ecolife. He is also a PhD candidate in Philosophy & Moral Science at Ghent University, where he studies the consistency of theories of equality applied to animal ethics. Stijn published several books about environmental ethics and animal rights ("Het Dierendebacle", ...). He was the first Belgian crew member to join Sea Shepherd in the Antarctica whale defense campaign and remains active in a lot of organizations such as Bite Back and Sea First Foundation.
